Enzyplex for Dogs 750g

Manufactured by Nature Vet

Digestive upsets can be quite common in dogs, and can relate to simple factors such as:

  • too much fat in a meal,
  • stress of travelling,
  •  inadequate diets
  • training and racing,  and
  • apartment living in many breeds of dogs.

Undigested food can creates foul smelling faeces, often with diarrhoea.  Food will pass through the stomach undigested when there is insufficient  digestive enzymes.  ENZYPLEX is a powdered digestive enzyme supplement which assists in  breaking down food into digestible components, and improve digestion and absorption of nutrients.

Animals with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency struggle to produce sufficent digestive enzymes to adequately digest food.  ENZYPLEX commences digesting the moist food as soon as it is added, and continues to function following digestion.

Enzyplex contains Maltase 14 g/kg Protease 8 g/kg Lipase 24 g/kg in a "carrier" powder of Montmorillonite.  Montmorillonite is a rare earth clay which:

  • enhances the function of the enzymes,
  • slows the passage of nutrients through the intestine,
  • alters bacterial fermentation ability in the large bowel,
  • improves nutrient digestibility,
  • reduces flatulence,
  • improves stool formation, and
  • assists in binding bacteria and endotoxins, and
  • helps to normalise gut function and prevent diarrhoea.

Sodium bicarbonate acts as a buffer, protecting the enzymes in the stomach and neutralising the hyperacidity in the duodenum. Calcium carbonate assists the buffering, and provides a source of elemental calcium.

The use of ENZYPLEX may be indicated where the following conditions are present:

  • Weight loss,
  • increased appetite
  • Malodorous, semi-formed faeces and
  • intermittent diarrhoea produced by insufficient pancreatic digestive enzymes which allows abnormal digestion and overgrowth of bacteria in the bowel.

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency can occur relatively frequent in dogs where there is:

  • Inappropriate or deficient diets,
  • Old, stressed, ill, fatigued, and convalescent dogs
  • High performance athletic animals

Using Enzyplex with your Dog

One measure (6 g) mixed through each 300 g of dry food or each 700 g of wet food, daily.

Mix well with food. If food is dry, dampen with warm water after mixing. Allow to stand for 10 - 15 minutes to allow pre-digestion to commence before feeding.

Note: If ENZYPLEX does not give a response rapidly, seek veterinary advice immediately

For Dogs with EPI, diet is a large part of the management plan. Characteristics of the ideal diet include:

  • highly digestible, lowfiber (<4%), and nutritionally balanced.
  • Supplement food with medium chain fats, easily absorbed by an EPI’ such as Coconut Oil. or Front Runner Oil
  • Slippery elm (herb) powder is used on a temporary basis or occasionally to help sooth irritated intestines. It's mucilage substance coats intestines allowing irritation to heal. It should not be used at the same time as other medications as it can reduce absorption of other medications. If using concurrently with other medications feed them at separate times of the day.
  •  Addition of Pancreatic Enzymes to the diet
  • Severely malnourished dogs may require supplementation with cobalamin (B12), tocopherol (Vit E), and other fat- soluble vitamins A, D, and K.

For Dogs with Bacteria Overload, a course of Probiotics may be required
